Community Mourning and Action with T'ruah

2:15 PM - 4:00 PMCBI Water BuildingMarking One Year Later: Community Mourning and Action with T'ruah As we mark one year since October 7, 2023, many of us are sitting with a plethora of emotions: grief over the lives destroyed by Hamas on October 7, fear for the hostages still held captive, anger and remorse at how the Israeli government has treated Palestinian lives as disposable, anxiety about what the future looks like, and more. T'ruah, the Rabbinic Call for Human Rights, has long been leading the way in holding space for us to feel the enormity of the grief coming out of Israel-Palestine from long before October 7, 2023. Join members of the CBI community as we tune into T'ruah's commemorative livestream together. They will share psalms and Torah, and hold a chance to be in community as we mourn the Israeli and Palestinian lives lost. For those who would like to attend this virtual ceremony but cannot join in person, you can find more information at this link https://truah.org/events/marking-one-year-community-space-for-prayer-and-mourning/

Shabbat Morning Talmund Study with Rabbi Jacob Mayim (Water) Building upstairs room (farm office) Shabbat Mornings 9:45-11:00 Nov 23, Dec 7, Dec 21, Jan 4, Jan 18, Feb 22, March 15 After a long hiatus, Rabbi Jacob's longstanding and beloved Talmud class is back! The Talmud is the central text of rabbinic Judaism; you could say that the Talmud, more than the Torah, has shaped what it means to be Jewish today. The Talmud is a vast ocean. Within its 5,422 pages, it provides us with an extraordinary compendium of Jewish wisdom in the form of law, ethics, philosophy, history, and stories. During these Shabbat study sessions, we will look at a variety of the most important, fascinating, and evocative Talmudic selections. This class is intended for a wide audience, including both people who have never studied Talmud before as well as those who have. Absolutely no prior knowledge is required. -

JanJanuary 10 , 2025Shiru Shabbat
Friday, Jan 10th 5:00p to 6:00p
Shiru Shabbat is a joyous, musical Kabbalat Shabbat service held at CBI and led by Molly Bajgot with Aram Rubenstein Gillis, Matt Goldfield, and other guests. Feel free to bring a picnic dinner to enjoy after services! Shiru Shabbat is inspired by the circular davvening (prayer) style of Nava Tehila, a renewal style prayer service in Jerusalem, and by Rabbi Micah Shapiro's Shabbat Nariya services in Boston, Massachusetts. The service includes contemporary melodies and the use of instruments to create a song-full, heart expanding Shabbat experience. Come to sing out, be washed in sound, and to connect with community at the end of the week. Shiru Shabbat invites you to join our new Ruach* Circle, a circle of community musicians and vocalists to elevate our song at Shiru Shabbat (*ruach means spirit). -
