CBI Community Shabbaton 2024: Friday, September 13 - Sunday, September 15

The ever-popular Community Shabbaton is a weekend of camp fun designed to bring together families, individuals, and community members of all ages for a weekend of prayer, learning, and shared meals in the great outdoors. There will be activities and programs tailored for all, from Shiru Shabbat with the incredible Molly Bajgot to engaging Torah study sessions with lively discussions, from outdoor adventures and kids’ programming to a Shluggers invitational intramural softball spectacular. It’s a wonderful opportunity to disconnect from the daily hustle and reconnect with what truly matters: faith, family, friends, and community while immersed in the beautiful setting of a summer camp retreat.

The CBI Shabbaton is an incredible community building opportunity. For the most immersive experience, we encourage attendance for the entire weekend. If you can only come for part of the weekend, we welcome this, too!
 
REGISTRATION FOR OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATIONS IS CLOSED, BUT YOU CAN SIGN UP FOR MEALS UNTIL TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 at 12:00 noon.

MEALS
All food throughout the weekend will, of course, be Kosher and consist of some dairy meals and some meat meals. Meals include Friday dinner through Sunday breakfast, and snacks will be served/available as well. NOTE: only food with a kosher symbol is allowed at Camp Ramah.

PRICING
In order to offer this weekend, we must offset the costs of food, accommodations, and staffing. Please help cover these costs, and, if you can, help bring this experience to other families. For members for whom paying the suggested price would present a true hardship, we ask that you contribute at the highest level that your heart and financial ability will allow.
 
FEES:
Full weekend (programming, meals, and housing):
Individual: $215/person
Household (2-4 people): $425/household
Additional household members, after 4: $75/person
Guest House Supplement (6 rooms available with 2 queen beds and private bath): $250/room

Weekend (programming and meals) a la cart:
Friday (adults and kids over 12): $50/person
Friday (kids 6-12): $25/person
Saturday lunch and dinner (adults and kids over 6): $100/person
Sunday dinner (adults and kids over 12): $50/person 
Saturday, ALMA lunch pass (adults and kids over 6): $25/person

ACCOMMODATIONS
We will be using a variety of accommodations available at Camp Ramah, including cabins, bunk rooms, and private rooms with shared baths.  There is also a guesthouse with only 6 rooms available (each with 2 queen beds and private bath), that are available for an additional fee on a first-come, first-served basis (see more details here >>).

Volunteer Help Needed

We need lots of help before and during the Shabbaton to make this a special weekend. Please let us know if you can help with any of the following: 

Preparation leading up to the Shabbaton:

  • Prepare welcome packet information including maps, schedules, and program information
  • Prepare name tags for all participants
  • Create signage for use at the Shabbaton
During the Shabbaton:
  • Welcome people and hand out information and schedules on Friday afternoon, Sept. 13
  • Lead a workshop, class, or discussion group for adults (please share your ideas)
  • Lead an activity for kids (please share your ideas)
  • Lead a movement class for adults (please share your ideas)
  • Assist with any of the programs listed above
  • Help with Shabbat services on Saturday morning
  • Build and manage the bonfire on Saturday evening
  • Other (please share your ideas)
